The nudibranch gets its name from its mannerism of moving its body in an undulating manner that just resembles the flamboyant flamingo dancer.
The Spanish Dancer nudibranch is a reef safe species and gets along well with other tank inhabitants. But it is advised not to keep the Spanish Dancer nudibranch with active and violent species, as they may spill out their toxic ink. They are basically algae consumers and contribute to a great extent in keeping the tank clean and rid of detritus. In case of a shortage of algae, they can be temporarily fed by chopped lettuce and boiled kelp.
The Spanish nudibranch initially finds it difficult to adjust with the aquatic environment of the tank, but gradually get acclimated after few hours. If fed well, the Spanish dancer nudibranches grow well and reach a size of 15 inches in the wild but is usually seen at 1-3 inches, after which they need abundant space to stroll about.
The Spanish dancer nudibranchs are shy species and get annoyed when exposed to bright light.
